Special Post

Hey Everyone, I have a special post today. Over the past 7 or 8 months I have realized what a blessing Blogs can be, not only can they help you stay connected with friends and family, they are a great way to send out prayer request and help those in need. My Friend Jenni Fuller Hertz (yall may know her, she was an Alpha Gam at Auburn) is trying to help her Friend Amanda Lunsford who's baby was born with a congenital heart defect. I know this is an abrupt end to a paragraph, but instead of retyping what Jenni said in her email, I just pasted her email below.

Hey everybody,

As many of you already know, one of my good friends had a baby on January 15th of this year who was born with a congenital heart defect. There is a series of 3 open heart surgeries required to fix it. Little Katherine Marie Lunsford had her first surgery when she was about 6 days old. She has done very well despite some complications. Tomorrow she will be having a shunt placed to help drain some excess fluid from her brain. For all that this precious little baby has been through, she is doing so well, and is such a sweetheart! If you want to keep up with her and her progress, her website is http://caringbridge.org/visit/katherinelunsford.

As you can imagine, this is taking quite the toll on her parents and the rest of the family. Amanda and Lanny, Katherine's parents, also have an almost 3 year old little girl. Katherine has now been in the hospital for almost 6 weeks, 5 of those weeks in the NICU, both at UAB and at Childrens. You can only imagine the financial burden this is for them. The MOMS Club that I am involved in (which is how I met Amanda) is putting together a cookbook to try to raise some money to help them out. We would really appreciate it if you would visit this website and provide the username "momscook" with the password: 55j5e and add as many recipes as you'd like.

Also, if any of you would like to buy a cookbook and/or are involved in an organization (church, club, school, office, etc) that you think might sell/buy them, please let me know. The price will be somewhere between 12 and 15 dollars depending on the size of the book and will be available around the 1st of May.

Thanks so much everybody!

Love
Jenni

Krista, thank you so much for posting this on your blog. The power of prayer is amazing! Sweet little Katherine will probably get to go home tomorrow! AMAZING! She still has a long road ahead of her, but for now, the future looks bright...

Thanks, also, to everyone who will pray for this family. You have no idea how much it will mean to them! Sincerely, Jenni Hertz
