before we got a hold of them...

Back in January '11 we purchased a foreclosure. When Michael and I moved here we knew we would love to someday live on the water. We thought it would be many many years from now. We always kept an eye out for what might pop up on the mls. We also have a good friend Mary who is a Realtor, and would let us know what was up. For about a year we would make these CRAZY offers on various houses, to see if anyone would go for it. Michael and I laugh so hard about how insane we were. " Oh you want $100? how about $25, ok $50." It was about like that!!! We put Mary through the ringer!! She is still a good friend, thank goodness!! Well after making offers on about 4 different houses Mary called and let us know one of the ones we wanted went into foreclosure and we needed to act fast. So we stayed true to ourselves and made another low offer:) back and forth a little bit, and then ... they took it!!! Mary was bouncing off the walls!!! She said this truly is unheard of!!
The house itself needed a lot of work!!! (like structural) So much so, it is way more beneficial to tear it down and rebuild. the house had been abandoned for 2 years and had who knows what living in it, growing in it?? We thought we would just wait for our house to sale and then tear it down, but come to find out getting insurance for an abandoned house on the bay was almost impossible, or we could get some sort of empty house insurance, and that was like paying another house note!!! not an option!! So we decided we will get it cleaned and painted and just rent it out. I might need to add this little piece of information, I'm pretty sure I didn't see the entire inside of the house before we bought it. I know I walked through the front door, but not all around. I was too nervous about racoon's or bats or mice, or who knows what!! All that being said I asked Michael to promise me he wouldn't make me live in this house. He laughed and said "I promise you, you do not have to live in this house" Well after the house had been scrubbed and painted it wasn't so bad after all. The Kitchen, bathrooms, stain glass, and crazy tile work everywhere were not my taste, but totally livable and clean. The outside of the house is still somewhat "secret gardenish" . Any who being the loving wife that I am said" lets just put both house up for rent and see which one rents first. We decided to take our house off the market anyway and wait for it to turn around :) that might be a while, but we are seeing improvement here just this past year!! yea! So, wouldn't you know the house we lived in sense Finn was 13months old :( rented in 5 days!! Then they needed us to be out in 10 days!!! It was such a whirlwind, I never had the opportunity to get sad and sentimental. It was the house we pretty much started our family in, and all Finn had known for 5 yrs. Michael and I have never lived in a house more than 2 years, so 5 felt like a lot. As I am typing this I realized these pictures don't really go with the words that I am writing!! Well take that as a little back ground when I show you the house sometime soon.
ok, so these pictures are of the walkway in our back yard, I am almost positive you would fall through those boards and get lost for years in all that undergrowth!

Leo is a Hero!! We love our Leo!! he and his team of men tore down and rebuilt our walkway, it is also lovingly referred to as "my gym" walk up and down those babies a few times a day, and you will have yourself some buns of steel!! They also discovered a surf board when clearing out, you never know what kind of treasure you might find:)
