Charleston

Early Thursday morning Catherine, Kari, and I packed up the car to head to Charleston. My sweet friends were being so responsible, having there printed directions, turn by turn and all. I on the other hand, had a little surprise for them. I brought my little friend Nuvi, although Michael and I refer to her as Nuvs. Nuvs is a GPS. She was given to me by my sweet husband, who was tired of me calling him at work and telling him "I'm Lost", "Can you Mapquest me directions on how to get home?" In my defense, it was when I was across the bay. Unknown territory for me. Anyway, Nuvs and I have become great friends. She even talks to me in this cool British accent. So, back to the trip. Catherine and Kari were excited Nuvs came along, but they were not sold completely. It wasn't until Catherine had a major craving for Quiznos that Nuvs came through like a champ. Yes that's right, Nuvs can look up any restaurant and give you directions right to it! I'm thinking the old paper directions can't do that. Nuvs 1 - Paper 0. It is a good thing Nuvs won them over, because I was about to jump up in the front seat, grab there directions, and throw them out the window!!

We made great time, even stopping by Beaufort along the way. It is amazing how fast 7 hours goes by when your in the car with friends. We dropped our bags and headed out on the town. Later that night we went to go pick Erica up from the airport. Poor Erica's flight was delayed. She landed about midnight. We still ended up staying up till about 3. It really felt like college. We did the whole tourist thing; Shopping, carriage ride, bike tour, and eating at the good restaurants. We decided we wanted to go to local "hot spots" as our friend Erica refers to them. We actually asked a lady on the street where to go. She was so sweet, she stopped what she was doing and called her daughter to ask her. She told us to go to the "Purple Tree". She was about the third person to tell us that, so we thought we would give it a go. BIG MISTAKE! As we were about to walk in the door, Catherine told us to get back. Before we knew it this guy came flying out the door. Apparently he was being kicked out. Then about 20 other guys came out and start fighting. It was madness. Kari, being on top of her game called 911. They told her the police were already in route to the Purple Tree. Not even 2 seconds later there were about 5 or 6 police cars surrounding the fight. It felt like as seen from some cop show. Needless to say, we didn't attend the Purple Tree that night. We opted to go to the "Library" the next night in honor of our Harvard Grad. The Library was actually a really neat bar on the very top of a building with great views. We had the best time. Can't wait for the next trip! Here are a few pic's.
